I did something fun that was just for me! As a mommy of littles this almost never happens. What did I do? I did a Makeup Bag Makeover with Halley from House of Tesla Hair and Makeup. For a Makeup Bag Makeover you bring your makeup and brushes and Halley brings her professional kit. She looks over your products and then brings out some of hers from her kit. She then does your makeup with a combination of your things and her own while giving makeup application tips.
Pictured below are some of the items that Halley brought (on the left) and my products on the right. I brought things like my 10 year old, almost used up blush, and a new eye shadow pallet. It is fine to bring whatever you have and Halley will fill in the gaps with her products.
Halley did my left eye and then talk me through how to do the right on my my own. I loved this because I was able to practice while she watched me. At no point did Halley make me feel uncomfortable or lacking in what I knew about makeup. I can tell that Halley loves what she does and wants to help you feel beautiful.
Here is a picture of Halley and me after she finished my day time look :)
During the make over, Halley describes products that she thinks will work well on you. She tells you about high end products as well as a comparable drug store product. I loved this because I am more of a drug store product kind of girl and I like knowing which ones have similar results to the high end stuff. Now to run to the store and by some new products :)
At the end you take a picture of all of the products that Halley used out of her kit. This way you can go and find them from the store later.
Makeup Tips I learned:
Apply concealer with your ring finger because is it the weakest finger and it will pull the skin the least.
Apply powder after your liquid based foundation so your other powder products (like plush and eye shadow) will blend better.
Do a lot more forward and back (windshield wiper) motions when applying eye shadow.
Did you know you can mix blush colors?
When applying foundation: go into the hair line, down your neck, and on your ear lobes. This will keep you from having a foundation line.
You should tap off the excess eye shadow powder instead of blowing it off. Blowing can leave spit particles on your brush that can then leave bacteria. (Oops and yuck! I will be tapping on my brushes from now on.)

P.S. There is a night time look that is included in this awesome experience. But our time was cut short when my husband called me and said that he broke his leg! Halley did make sure both of my eyes were at least even before I ran out the door.
